EGYPT

Cairo – Alexandria – Sinai (25 Apr – 2May 2018)

Our excursion to Egypt in April 2018, was accompanied by undiminished historical, cultural and pilgrimage interest and was completed with absolute success. Egypt is one of the most famous destinations in the world. The endless history, mythical treasures, natural beauty as well as Egyptian culture attract millions of visitors every year from all over the world!

Excursionists had the opportunity to visit Cairo & the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, Alexandria & the New Library of Alexandria; the market of Han El Halili, Pharan and Ratheo;  the monastery of Saint Catherine & the famous place of the Burning Bush. Participants also had the opportunity to swim among the corals in Sharm el-Sheikh in the Red Sea and admire amongst others the imposing pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx.

The climate and the atmosphere were festive throughout the trip as great moments were succeeding one another. Therefore, it is almost unlikely (perhaps unfair) to try to choose a piece as the best … the opinions differ, but the common assumption is that … Egypt seduces, deceives and absorbs in another world another dimension …

Marios Travel thanks all the participants for their preference and invites all travellers to visit the mother of all destinations…

A quick look…

Egypt, officially known as the Arab Republic of Egypt, is a state located in northeastern Africa and partly on the Sinai peninsula, which is an isthmus of southwest Asia, making it an intercontinental country and is considered a great force in North Africa, the Mediterranean Sea in the Islamic world and the Red Sea. Egypt from the northeast borders with the Gaza Strip and Israel, west with Libya and south with Sudan. It lies north of the Mediterranean and east of the Red Sea.

Egypt is one of the most populated countries in Africa and the Middle East. The vast majority of its 96,270,000 inhabitants live near the banks of the Nile River, an area of approximately 40,000 sq. Km, the country’s only irrigable and fertile land. Large areas of the Sahara desert are sparsely populated. More than half of its population live in urban areas and the vast majority of the urban population lives in the most densely populated cities, Cairo (capital), Alexandria and other major cities along the Nile.

The country is famous for its ancient civilization and some of the most famous monuments, including Giza and the pyramid complex, as well as the Great Sphinx. The southern city of Luxor includes many ancient artifacts, including the Temple of Karnak and the Valley of the Kings. Egypt is considered as an important political and cultural nation of the Middle East.

It also has one of the most developed economies in the Middle East, with sectors such as tourism, agriculture, industry and services, which share almost equal shares of the country’s GDP. Overall, the Egyptian Economy is rapidly growing, partly for the sake of its legislation, which seeks to attract investment, coupled with domestic and political stability and trade liberalization.
